“The hummingbird symbolizes many different concepts. Because of its speed, the hummingbird is known as a messenger and stopper of time. It is also a symbol of love, joy, and beauty. The hummingbird is also able to fly backwards, teaching us that we can look back on our past. But, this bird also teaches that we must not dwell on our past; we need to move forward. When the hummingbird hovers over flowers while drinking nectar, we learn that we should savour each moment, and appreciate the things we love.”
Taking things day by day, and it’s been getting better :) I more than love my new tattoo, and though I know it’s in a very visible place and once my parents see it, I’ll get the usual schpiel about it will affect my image and what not, especially professionally, but…I don’t care. I realize all that, but ultimately I got it for me, to permanently mark the changes the hummingbird represents as mentioned above I’m working to make within me and my life. No regrets and I really feel that it helps instill those positive changes in me more. After all, it’s permanently on my body. Much like my first tattoo, it’ll be really stupid to not follow what they both symbolize.
I will say though, there is a certain addiction to getting tattoos. Not to say that I would go out and get them on whims — I may want another, but whatever that may be will have to be something I really, really want. And actually mean something, not just getting one for the sake of getting one. But there is a rush that I enjoy when going through the process. Not sure what to make of that, haha.
As Toby Keith himself describes this lovely tune: “the stupidest song that I have ever heard in my life” but also “freakin’ awesome”.
I wholeheartedly agree. Three minutes and forty four seconds of pure silly happiness. :D
